Why a career in Surveying?
Chartered Surveyors are at the heart of all property matters. Whether it’s construction, infrastructure, land use, buying and selling or housing provision, Surveyors are the key. Surveyors are essentially responsible for measuring, valuing, protecting and enhancing the buildings that surround us – from city skyscrapers to sports stadiums, shopping centres to the homes we live in. Surveying is an exciting and diverse career choice which can offer the opportunity to travel, earn a great salary and work on a variety of different projects.
No two days are the same. Surveying is more than an office based job and you will often be on site meeting clients.
No matter where you are in life, whether you are a School Leaver, University Graduate or considering a career change there is a pathway to enable you to become a Chartered Surveyor.
Once you have achieved your professional qualification (APC) there are many fields in Surveying that you can become involved in. There is opportunity to travel and to constantly develop your knowledge and gain new experiences within the world of property.

At Graham + Sibbald we understand that University is not for everyone, and we have therefore developed a School Leaver’s Programme as an alternative route towards a career in Surveying. Build knowledge and skills
Gain University and Professional qualifications
Earn money while you learn

“On the programme, I’m gaining lots of job experience and earning money at the same time – it doesn’t get much better than that!
I get out and about most days, shadowing more experienced surveyors, learning the practical skills of the job and putting into practice the knowledge that I’ve learned in the classroom.”
